Finance Manager (Head of Finance)

Requirments

Job Purpose:

Develop and implement strategies in the areas of financial and invest management to achieve revenue, growth and profit targets and contribute towards the overall financial position of the company and add value to the Directors and Shareholders. This includes preparation of corporate accounts, internal financial reports and compliance reporting, budgeting and system development and improvement.

Reporting relationship:

Holders of the position report to the General Manager.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement the financial policies of the company.
  • Develop financial strategies that will support the financial stability of the company.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial reports, and compliance with Audit requirements as laid down by the Board.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and monitor annual budgets including operating and capital expenditure budgets for the company.
  • Reviews prepare and reconcile all financial statements and ensure timely treatment of outstanding items for the company.
  • In conjunction with the GM, ensure that business cash flows adequately support the company’s work activities and produces optimal results.
  • In conjunction with the GM authorize Treasury Bill investment for the company.
  • Review and authorize payment of approved expenses/income for the company.
  • Ensure the fixed assets register is managed and maintained with strict adherence to “fixed assets register procedures” and assets are timely updated for the company.
  • Maintain integrity of Accounting system (software), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times.
  • Ensure that there is a comprehensive Bus costing system in place.
  • Organize Monthly Performance Review (MPR) meetings and coordinate actions to be taken there from.
  • Prepare variance reports for Board meetings, and quarterly returns for the Board.

Person specification

Highly motivated, action and results oriented individual, with a clear insight and vision, natural leader with proven leadership abilities. An excellent communicator and good team player that can lead teams to achieve results. Can propose changes even in the face of strong opposition. Can work within cross-cultural and diverse work contexts.

Qualification and Experience

  1. ACCA/CIMA with minimum of 4 years work experience OR
  2. MBA finance with minimum of 4 years work experience

TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    • 2 – 4 years experience in the field related area.
    • A minimum requirement of Diploma or HND is required.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Database, Accounting and spreadsheet.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare Training Manuals for Drivers and Conductors.
  • Carry out training activities for Drivers and Conductors.
  • Carry out driver screening to ensure the validity of their documents.
  • To inform Management of New Training Development Programs to benefit Drivers and Conductors.
  • Prepare and implement annual refresher course for the Drivers and Conductors.
  • To develop in collaboration with relevant departments Defensive Driving, Road Safety and First Aid program for drivers.
  • Carry out preliminary testing to determine eligibility of potential drivers for employment.
